2011-2012 General Motors Malibus
General Motors is recalling nearly 470,000 Chevrolet Malibus from 2011 to 2012 to fix potentially weakened cables that link the front seat belts to the vehicles. The cable can weaken and separate as people move in the seats.
GM says they are aware of 36 claims and one minor injury linked to the defect, but does not know of any accidents or fatalities. Owners of recalled Malibus can bring their cars to dealerships for inspection and replacement of the lap pretensioner, if needed.
2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon Trucks
The company is also recalling around 53,000 2015 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks to fix seat frame hooks that weren’t installed properly during assembly. GM says they do not know of any crashes, injuries, or fatalities related to that defect.
Dealers will inspect affected Canyon and Colorado trucks to determine whether the seat frame attachment hooks need repair.
